“The Quartetto Goldberg has shown both a strong ensemble cohesion and an imaginative interpretative flair, qualities that place them on par with already mature formations, with carefully considered repertoire choices yet open to original perspectives […]. Within the international string quartet scene, the Goldberg Quartet stands out as an example of seriousness in their work, artistic discipline, and passionate interpretative fervor.”
— Una Vita nella Musica Giovani 2024 of Teatro La Fenice

Winner of the 42nd Premio Abbiati of the Italian Music Critics’ Association, the Quartetto Goldberg has quickly established itself on the international chamber music scene. The ensemble is currently Artist in Residence between Brussels, Madrid, and Cremona, working closely with the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, and the Accademia Stauffer. Since its founding in 2021, the quartet has toured in over 15 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Our artistic vision
Our first sight-reading rehearsal took place in January 2021, as we were emerging from the dark months of the Covid pandemic, when theaters were closed and musicians played to empty halls. Entering the world of the string quartet, we felt a strong desire to reconnect music with both performers and audiences. We were not yet thinking about the Goldberg Quartet, but we had already discovered our shared love for Bach's Goldberg Variations, which felt like a first light at the end of the tunnel. That resilient energy later became the inspiration for our project and for our wish to build the closest possible relationship with our audiences, turning our concerts into truly shared listening experiences.
"Each page unfolded through constant, attentive listening, transforming the chamber dialogue into a single, fluid discourse without breaks. It confirmed—if any confirmation were still needed—the impression of a quartet already mature, capable of tackling complex scores with analytical clarity while conveying a profound sense of shared musical necessity."
